Did you know that intimate partner violence (IPV), also known as domestic violence (DV), impacts millions of people in the U.S. every year? Or that victims of often stay with or return to their abusive partners due to economic reasons?
Intimate partner violence is abuse or aggression that occurs in romantic relationships and refers to both current and former spouses and dating partners. It is a significant public health issue that has a profound impact on health, opportunity, and well-being. According to the CDC, although the personal consequences of intimate partner violence are devastating, there are also many societal costs. The CDC estimates the economic cost associated with medical services for IPV-related injuries, lost productivity from paid work, criminal justice and other costs, is $3.6 trillion.
Economic factors, such as low income, unemployment, career stress, and poverty, are associated with IPV, are associated with an increased risk of IPV. Fortunately, career services, such as resume writing, job prep, and job search assistance, can play a key role in providing IPV victims the resources they need to take advantage of employment opportunities and, ultimately, escape abuse and in empowering survivors to thrive long term.
Reignite Resumes & Career Empowerment Services is a youth-led non-profit organization that was created to fill a gap in the services currently provided to intimate partner violence (IPV) survivors, domestic violence (DV) survivors, and other underserved populations. We provide a variety of career services, job services, and career counseling services free of charge. As trained and skilled resume writers, we provide individualized resume writing, cover letter writing, job search assistance, job application assistance, mock interviews, and other job prep services. We can also assist with DV-compliant career social media profile creation and optimization.
